Broomwagon.cc is Geneva, Switzerland’s first women’s cycling community, founded in 2024 by two passionate female cyclists. We know that cycling has traditionally been a male-dominated sport, and finding a group to ride with can often feel intimidating—especially when most group rides are mixed, with what could feel like a more aggressive riding style.
Our mission is to create an inclusive, supportive, and fun space for women who love road cycling—whether you're looking to improve your skills, meet like-minded riders, or simply enjoy the freedom of the road. We believe in strong legs, strong minds, and stronger friendships!
Why broom wagon?
A broom wagon (or voiture balai in French) is a support vehicle that follows behind a cycling race or group ride to pick up riders who can’t continue due to fatigue, mechanical issues, or injury. It "sweeps" up those who need help, ensuring no one is left behind.
OUR RIDES
Wednesday Socials
-
When: Every Wednesday after work (mid-April → mid-September)
-
Duration: ~1.5 hours
-
Where: We are always looking to explore Geneva’s beautiful surroundings, so our locations vary. We share ride details (start time, route, and meeting point) on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Strava, at least the night before.
-
Pace: split into an intermediate and a faster group depending on the number of riders (22kmph – 25kmph average)
-
The rides are always no-drop, and we will try not to leave anyone behind.
Speedy Tuesdays
-
Looking to push your limits, build speed, and train for racing? Then these rides are for you!
-
When: Tuesdays (when the race calendar permits)
-
Duration: ~2 hours | ~50km
-
Format: Drop Ride – ride hard, hold on as long as you can, and test your endurance! We will regroup at the top of climbs; otherwise, expect a fast-paced effort.
-
What is a Drop Ride? Unlike our social no-drop rides, drop rides test your speed and stamina. If you get dropped, you may need to finish solo or in smaller groups—great for building resilience and race readiness!
-
Details (start time, route, and location) will be posted on WhatsApp and Instagram the night before.
Oh, and (unlike most things in Switzerland…) our weekly rides will always be completely free!
We also organise special weekend rides, races, and social events throughout the season!
